Irn Brimba was a mutant who drew his powers from Soomar’s red sun. As Super-Male, he had powers similar to Superman. Crystal Ganyrog had no time for Super-Male and spurned his advances, while Super-Male hated women who threw themselves at him and was attracted to Ms Ganyrog precisely because she didn’t want him.
Lois Lane was taken by spaceship to Soomar, and masqueraded as Crystal while she got treatment for an ailment. Whilst she had been instructed by Crystal to give Super-Male the cold shoulder, she couldn't resist writing “Oh how I’d like to have Super-Male propose to me . . .” which message Super-Male happened to see with his telescopic vision. Now thinking that Crystal was in love with him, Super-Male wanted nothing to do with her. Later, when Lois returned to Earth and Crystal resumed her reporting life, she was surprised that her Super-Suitor now ignored her - which made Crystal want him.
