Clark Kent became the guardian of a super-baby with powers approximating his own. The boy's parents, Mr and Mrs Roger Bliss, had left him at Kent's apartment with a letter asking him to pass the child to Superman so he could be raised to use his powers for good. Unfortunately, the letter blew away and Superman took some time to find out who were the baby's real parents. Eventually he tracked down Mr and Mrs Bliss to return their child, whom they had missed greatly. They had theorised - and Superman confirmed - that the boy had eaten the contents of a cylinder they had found and that had given him super-powers. The cylinder was of Kryptonian manufacture, had contained food concentrates from Krypton, and had been attached to the rocket that brought Kal-El to Earth. It had been sheared off by a meteor, and later landed on Earth separately. The effects of the Kryptonian food were temporary, and the baby's powers soon wore off.
