After Superboy scolded him for making mischief, Krypto flew away into space and found an advanced world where he encountered a super-powered youth, Solar Boy, who invited him to be friends. However, secretly Solar Boy plotted revenge on Krypto for an incident some time previously on Earth when he and Superboy had stopped him committing criminal acts. Solar Boy got his powers by entering a cabinet that bathed him with rays to give him temporary powers that needed to be renewed daily. He tricked Krypto into entering the adjacent cabinet - but adjusted it to remove his powers temporarily, and then subjected him to cruel and humiliating treatment. He continued this for several days, but eventually Krypto managed to reverse the actions of the two cabinets, so that when he and Solar Boy entered their respective acbinets, Krypto regained his powers while Solar Boy lost his. Krypto then destroyed the cabinets so that Solar Boy would never be super-powered again.
