Following exposure to cosmic rays, Doc Magnus turned into metal, and became cold, hard and unfeeling. He manufactured a new team of robots, the Gas Gang: Helium, Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Chloroform and Oxygen. The Metal Men defeated the Gas Gang - not without difficulty - and simultaneously turned Doc back to normal.
The Gas Gang returned to trouble the Metal Men twice more.
