Adam Orion's father was Otto Orion - the best hunter his home planet of Simballi had to offer and, later on, its ruler. In search of new prey Otto hunted the Legion of Super-Heroes, but met his death in the hunt. Adam took the death of his father badly and swore to continue his father's mission and take revenge upon his killers. His mission failed when his plans were thwarted by Bouncing Boy.
After a few years Adam joined the newly-expanded Legion of Super-Villains brought together by Nemesis Kid on the planet Orando. He did not distinguish himself in the group.
