Like many others of the era, Hop was tempted to become a costumed adventurer and took the guise of Guardian Angel for a brief time in 1941 (All-American # 25-28). He soon decided to leave such activities to folks like the Justice Society of America, whom he met later in the year (All-Star Comics # 8). In 1945, Hop had one more dalliance with costumed crime-fighting as the Black Lamp (All-American # 78).
