Oliver Queen, alias Green Arrow, was the defender of working-class people. He opposed Super Man's League of Science, a group of super-heroes who used their super-powers and science to try to improve the lot of humanity, because they failed to give priority to justice. Green Arrow showed Clark and his allies that the suffering and poverty of the people who lived in the area was due to the science and progress the group's so-called 'Age of Wonder' was creating. In short, the League had created the 'Spartans', terrorists who were causing mayhem. The archer told the League that HE would deal with the Spartans and walked away.
A decade later, Oliver and the Bat-Man were pursuing a group of thieves, when fuel from the tank behind him exploded and killed Green Arrow.
