Kathy Kane was a wealthy Gotham socialite who became Batwoman in order to woo Batman. Her niece, Bette, became her sidekick as Bat-Girl. At one point, Kathy masqueraded as 'Cat-Woman' and pretended to team up with the villain, Catman, as a ploy to help Batman catch him.
After some years as a successful crimefighter, she was murdered by the League of Assassins under the leadership of Ra's al Ghul.
