'Brain' Hobson was a criminal who was executed by electric chair, but shortly after the execution his body was snatched away from the prison's morgue. The underworld of Gotham became aware that, thanks to some advanced technology, Hobson's consciousness was still alive as his brain had been placed on a tank filled with a special electro-chemical liquid.
After an extensive investigation, Batman and Robin located the hideout of the criminals, where they discovered that the whole brain scheme was a giant hoax - the brain wasn't really alive at all - set up to gather a large group of criminals in the city and make off with the crime spree's loot before anyone was the wiser. The Dynamic Duo captured the thugs and delivered them to the police.
