Chuck Taine gained his power of super-bouncing when he accidentally swallowed the contents of a bottle of a chemical formula thinking it was soda. After being initally rejected for membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes (Pre-Zero Hour), he later proved his worth and was accepted.
At one point he lost his power, and had to retire to the Legion Reserve, but his power was later restored.
He had a long and distinguished career in the Legion, eventually taking a part-time status while he managed the Legion Academy, together with his wife, Luornu Durgo (Duo Damsel).
