The universe was subjected to another crisis when the embodiment of death, Nekron, attacked using the Black Lantern Corps, an army of resurrected evil zombies wielding power rings. Every person who had ever been dead before was vulnerable to immediate zombification. Grundy was a zombie reanimated with a Black Lantern ring in Slaughter Swamp, and from there he set out to destroy 'monsters', such as Bizarro and Man-Bat. He was eventually killed again.
